The Harris Middle School Band is a gateway to a lifetime of musical enjoyment and the myriad of life-shaping opportunities that come through participation in school performance ensembles. In the grade six through eight band program, students gain a solid foundation of performance skills on their chosen instrument, preparing them to continue the Harris band tradition as members of the Shelbyville Central High School Band. Harris Middle School Program offer a comprehensive band program engaging students through experiences in symphonic band, concert bands, jazz band, percussion ensemble, pep band, as well as solo and small ensemble performances.
The main emphasis of the Harris Middle School Band program is MUSICIANSHIP. The goal of each student is to learn to play his or her instrument as well as possible, making the band a quality, life enriching, aesthetic experience. Additionally, Harris Middle School band students possess the qualities of self-discipline and citizenship, making them among the best and brightest in our school.
